PREMIO LISSONE DESIGN 2019

Studio Nucleo is proud to be invited by the city of Lissone and by Alberto Zanchetta,
Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lissone, to participate at the Lissone Design Prize 2019.

The six invitations issued to individual authors and work groups involve Martina Brugnara,
Duccio Maria Gambi, Simona Pavoni and the collective bn + BRINANOVARA, Nucleo, Parasite 2.0.
A short list of names including the Jury – formed by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio,
Beppe Finessi and Alberto Zanchetta – will decide the 2019 winner.

Studio Nucleo presents a selection of its latest artworks ‘Boolean’.
The pieces are the furnishings that formed the interior of a Milan 1940’s apartment
– the decade of the last generation of the Futurists to have known and collaborated with Filippo Tommaso Marinetti –
exhibited in 2017 at Futurdome in Milan, curated by Ginevra Bria and Atto Belloli Ardessi.

‘Boolean’ is a series of hybrid sculptures Studio Nucleo has created by coupling disparate elements
like vintage furniture and vintage ceramics based on the application of Boolean operators.
Boolean logic, named after English mathematician and computer pioneer George Boole,
established the use of operators like “NOT”, “OR” and “AND” that we now use in web searches.
It is precisely the application of such operations of subtraction, intersection and union
that Studio Nucleo unleashes upon a trove of vintage artefacts with simple geometric forms.
