MILA SCHÖN 50 MILA SCHÖN EXHIBITION
LINES COLOR SURFACES
The exhibition Mila Schön: Lines Colors Surfaces is conceived as a journey at once rational and emotional which depicts, in its salient moments, a unique story made of creativity, culture and style.
The movement begins with GEOMETRIES. Lines, angles, curves and intersections suggest new cuts, new prints and new decorations, in an Euclidean take on fashion making.
The constant attention given to the ongoing cultural debate, and to contemporary art and its protagonists, instead, translates into a dense net of iconographic echoes, which are explored in the second hall, dedicated to the SYNCHRONIES, with maestros like Fontana, Pollock, Noland, Calder, Tiffany and Klimt.
Third come the STEREOMETRIES: the pure, perfect volumes that turn the dress into architecture, a place to inhabit, built for and around the body.
The survey couldn’t ignore the exploration of the working method. EPICENTER, the fourth hall, re-builds the designer’s studio, the place where ideas gained life through drawing and discussions. On the walls, evolving intuitions are represented with a wallpaper of drawings.
DOCUMENTA follows with the proofs of an intelligent and lasting relation with the media and TV.
AMBIANCE, the final hall, is a rendition of the designer’s house parlor: an open place where to meet and exchange opinions, dominated by a vibrant shade of violet, her signature color.
Items and photos on show are part of the Mila Schön archive, with the exception of a few pieces taken from the fall-winter 08/09 collection, the first designed by Bianca Gervasio for the House. Mila Schön: Lines Colors Surfaces, in fact, is not a retrospective: it is a homage, in the name of continuity, to a perfect and timeless vision, good today as it was yesterday. Ad homage strongly supported by Comune di Milano, which willingly offered the Palazzo Reale spaces, and by the House of Mila Schön, which, by doing so, wants to re-appropriate its own past in order to move forward with the strength taken from its roots.
Linearity. Sobriety. Color. Geometry. This is the timeless heritage of Mila Schön.
